The Oshkosh® Municipal Plow Truck builds on the Oshkosh legacy of outstanding snow removal. Unlike many commercial vehicles that are adapted to plow snow, the Municipal Plow Truck is engineered and built to lead the pack in the most severe winter conditions. A smaller, more economical version of our legendary P-Series, it has all the strength, durability, reliability and value you have come to expect from over 80 years of Oshkosh expertise. We build the Municipal Plow Truck's 4x4 chassis from the ground up, engineering and manufacturing it as an all-wheel-drive truck from the start-unlike mass-produced trucks that are converted to all-wheel drive off the assembly line. Components include legendary Oshkosh driving axles with closed-wheel-end design, heat-treated alloy shafts, and the same road-proven transfer case as the larger P-Series.
Compared to its P-Series big brother, the Municipal Plow Truck has a bumper-to-back-of-cab length that is 13" shorter for excellent handling. Overall height is 10" less, for easier cab accessibility.
The solid, single-channel 12-3/8" frame with 110,000 psi yield strength and an RBM of 2,733,500 in. lbs. per rail has deep section crossmembers secured to it, specifically to withstand the punishing, forward thrust of snow removal.
Plows, dump spreaders and other equipment can be added quickly, without having to first move other components. Number and color -coded wiring harnesses and weatherproofed electrical connectors assure easy identification and repair, as well as easy installation of dealer-installed lighting.
Safety and productivity are enhanced with a reverse-slope windshield, top-mounted windshield wipers, and optional side-window wipers. All dramatically reduce snow and ice build up, and help prevent wiper damage. Plus, a shorter hood than the P-Series means superior visibility from the driver's seat.
Easy-to-reach controls are logically located on an instrument panel that is easy to remove for repair or replacement of gauges. A convenient touch-pad gear selector (automatic transmission) is at the driver's fingertips. Side window defrosters are integrated into the dash, and reset-type circuit breakers are easily accessed from a panel on the right side of the dashboard.
An air-ride driver's seat delivers maximum comfort, while a flat floor provides comfortable accelerator and brake pedal locations, and makes cleaning the cab very simple.
The cutaway fenders on the Municipal Plow Truck allow plow attachments to be fastened to the frame quickly, without interference, and the hinged side panels of the "butterfly" hood provide easy access to the engine compartment.
Our heavy-duty fin-and-tube-type radiator has a full 1000 square inches of cooling area. Its steel frame and tanks are bolted to a copper core for superior strength and longevity. Mounted above the frame rails, the radiator location allows room for easy installation of a crankshaft-driven PTO.
We use a unique, three-point system of attaching the cab to the vehicle with rubber mount cushions, so shocks and vibrations from roads are absorbed without transferring them to the cab. GMC LIGHT DUTY
